					<div id="elementor-tab-content-1472" class="elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix" data-tab="2" role="region" aria-labelledby="elementor-tab-title-1472"><h3>Why Are Batteries Not Rated in kiloWatts or kVA?</h3><p>Batteries store energy in the form of chemical transformation.<br />It then converts it into electrical energy for use as a result of the chemical reaction.<br />The value expressed in Ah (Ampere/hour) is the battery capacity as current.<br />Why aren&#8217;t Batteries called VA (Volts/Amps) or Watts or Kilowatts?<br />VA (volts/ampere) and kW (kilowatt) are units of power in electricity.<br />There is no fixed value in terms of current and power in batteries or batteries.<br />When half of the battery is used, the value to be used as current and power will be halved.<br />In this case, what could be the reason for naming the batteries based on their current capacity?<br />Batteries have a wide range of uses in the automotive industry.<br />The most important task expected from the battery in the automotive sector is high starting current.<br />While 500-600 A current is sufficient for small vehicles, 800-1000 A starting current may be required for large vehicles.<br />In addition, more starting current may be required in cold weather.<br />Could it be because of the need for this high current that the batteries are named by their current capacity?<br />This is a technical comment, not a technical data.</p><h4>Solar systems</h4><p>In solar systems, it may be more appropriate to name it in terms of power capacity rather than battery current capacity.<br />While the current value changes in 12v 24v system calculations for the same job, the power remains constant.<br />A 12v 120 watt receiver draws 10A from the circuit, while a 24v 120w receiver draws 5A current.<br />The low current draw of the 24v receiver should not create the perception that this device did half duty.<br />Work done is equal. A 220v device does the same job with about 0.5 A.<br />There is much confusion in calculations with current in solar system calculations.<br />Calculations can be simpler by converting the battery current capacity to power unit watts.<br />This formula is POWER (Watts) = Voltage (Volts) x Current (Amps).
